Dapoli : More beautiful than Phuket

Last October, we spent a week of family vacation in Bangkok and Phuket. It was a memorable trip but we did something different this time. We decided to drive, go somewhere near, not more than six hours of travel and away from the normal touristy handouts. We chose Dapoli. As we were descending 1100 feet from Dapoli to Karde Village Ranjani, my wife exclaimed ” Is this not more beautiful than Phuket “. It was indeed!. We stayed at Hotel Kinara a family run place with 4 kms of unexplored continous beach front, great walks going through rice fields and awesome food. It gets even better if you are into seafood. The cost of this trip was about 1/10th of our bangkok trip, less tiring and we spent our vacation budget within the country. If you are looking for a great vacation and thinking about Phuket, think again.

You could get the telephone number of Sagar Sawali from Hotel Kinara. The latter would oblige because the owners are related. Bapu is Jadhav’s father-in-law How to get there from Pune : (via) Mulshi. Take the mulshi road descend Tamini ghats and towards Kolad. At Kolad go south on NH17 towards Mandgaon/ Goa. Then take right at Goregaon Phata, go towards Purar, then Ambeth(SH100) towards Mandangaon, but turn towards Khed and Dapoli and follow directions further on to Dapoli. It is about 220 km from Pune and takes 6 hours one way, with comfortable breaks and moderate speeds.
