Friends we are in the final quarter of 2006. The weather all over India turns pleasant in the months of November and December. Many CEOs, senior managers of Indian origin visit India then take vacation with family and head back. These visits cannot be assumed as serious business visits and beware of wasting time with these business tourists. Ensure you ask for the objective of the meeting and decide whether it really benefits the company. For eg: Craig Barrett, Chairman of Intel Corp made a commitment to invest a billion dollars on his last visit to India, he even announced a India based fund. He is expected again this year and the media should ensure he is held accountable for these statements. Many other CEOs made similar commitments and should be held accountable. Make sure you control your agenda, focus on business and a vacation would be better ROI than meeting these “business tourists”.
